City council has voted on a plan to expand public land in Horse Gulch. They plan to purchase 113 acres and have applied for a grant through Great Outdoors Colorado to help with the cost. They don’t know if they will receive the grant yet. If the grant is not received, City Council plans to purchase the first 60 acres this year and the remaining 53 acres in 2013. Horse Gulch provides a fantastic trail system in Durango for hiking and Mountain biking. Adding this new acreage will ensure continued trail access across Raiders Ridge in the future.
